One really large man's quest to become a somewhat smaller man.

I'm not doing this for the reasons you think.

I'm not doing this for sympathy, for publicity, for anything like that. I really don't even expect anyone else to stumble onto this. I'm merely using it as a way to mark down, every day or so, my progress and pratfalls.

I want a record of this journey somewhere so I can look back the next day, next week or next year after I've finally wrestled this monster to the ground. If that sounds a tad melodramatic, it is. It's also true. What else would you call something that's utterly dominated your life that you haven't been able to muster the will to change?

So hopefully this will be a crutch -- somewhere to put down a few thoughts now and then, track my progress and occasionally bitch and moan about not hitting Buffet King or Montana's every weekend. I'll post my weight every Monday, as the only scale I've found that can give me a reading above 300 pounds is at a Fortino's supermarket, where I had stopped to buy a huge pizza.

You'll want to know where I'm starting from, so here are the details:

Weight: 363 pounds
Height: 6 feet
Waist: 48"
Age: 35
Sex: Male
